Redesigning the Neighbourhood

Last week we spent some time doing something we like to call redesigning the neighbourhood. Participants built sculptures from scratch using various materials and their imaginations.

These structures were to be participants’ own ideas of what they would like to see in place of abandoned buildings and parking lots in the West End.

When we finished, we got together and shared our sculptures with each other. We've got some great and often hilarious artisic ingenuity a brewin' over here at Art City-great work guys!

One child participant built a tall skinny structure with a round cushiony grass area on top. “You climb aaalll the way up…and once you get up there, you just lay on the grass and watch the clouds all day.” Doesn’t that sound amazing?
