Art City is located in West Broadway where we hold free art programming five days a week. But you know what? It totally doesn’t stop there.
We feel so strongly about the importance of art in peoples’ lives that we’re spreading the love to other Winnipeg communities across the city.
Right now we do six weekly off site workshops in communities that don’t have art spaces and/or art programming. It’s awesome that we get the chance to meet people from other communities and bring Art city into their lives.
One of the six off site workshops takes place at Elwick Community Resource Centre. The surrounding area holds much Manitoba Housing, and there often isn’t a lot going on out there for kids to take part in-especially in terms of art programming.
That’s where we come in! In a recent visit to Elwick, we held a workshop where we made and packaged little surprise gifts for each other. At the end of the session, we put our boxes holding our surprise art into one big box, and everyone got to pick which one they wanted to take home. Participants were pretty pumped on the idea.
